When it comes to staying active, Waverly is your place to be for fun things to do for the whole family. Our community is proud of its signature festivals for each season of the year. We welcome spring with the annual Art Walk in Kohlmann Park, where artisans from around the region sell their works of art from tents on the winding trail along the scenic Cedar River. Summer brings Heritage Days, where we celebrate our town’s heritage with a full weekend of family-friendly activities, concerts and a fabulous fireworks display. In the fall we celebrate Waverly’s German heritage with Oktoberfest in Kohlmann Park featuring music, dancing, children’s activities and, of course ... beer! And everyone looks forward to Christmas Greetings on Main in December, where our historic downtown comes alive with the spirit of the holidays.
Year Round Family Fun
Summer also brings the Bremer County Fair with livestock shows, tractor pulls, music, carnival rides and the popular combine demolition derby. And each spring and fall Waverly is home to the nation’s largest horse sale, drawing visitors from around the globe.
Every Tuesday and Saturday from spring through fall, the Waverly Farmers Market is your place for fresh produce and baked goods.
Waverly loves music, and each Thursday during June and July, Concerts in Kohlmann features music in the park, with food vendors and kid-friendly activities all overlooking the beautiful Cedar River.
If spectator sports are your passion, Waverly does not disappoint. Wartburg College’s Division III sports teams are highly competitive and exciting to watch. The 22 athletic teams have a combined 25 national championships, including 14 in wrestling and more than 100 conference titles.
Waverly has also hosted a number of much larger events, such as RAGBRAI (the world-famous Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa) and the Gentlemen of the Road Concert Tour, featuring internationally acclaimed Mumford and Sons and other notable musicians putting on a weeklong series of concerts and events.

Art Walk
Local and regional artists are celebrated during the annual Art Walk event. Held the first Saturday in May in Kohlmann Park, artists from Iowa and surrounding states sell their works of art from tents set up along the scenic Cedar River. This popular event also features live music, food vendors, art activities for children and much more. View More

Welcome home to fresh produce and baked goods! Stop by the Waverly Farmers Market on Tuesdays and Saturdays from spring through fall, and monthly during the winter, for all your farm-to-table goodness, and some beautiful flowers as well. View More
Music
Concerts In Kohlmann, Waverly's summer concert series, features the Waverly Municipal Band along with other local entertainment. Concerts take place each Thursday in June & July. Entertainment begins each Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. Free popcorn & lemonade are available for all to enjoy along with food from a variety of vendors throughout the season. View More
Heritage Days
Heritage Days is a volunteer-driven event held each summer dedicated to offering Waverly and the surrounding area a festival of activities promoting its heritage, talents, and greatest asset– its citizens. View More
Car Cruise
Uncover your classic, sports or muscle car and cruise the strip in Waverly! The fun kicks off at 6:00 p.m. on the 4th Thursday during summer months. Join your friends for cruising, dining, shopping and socializing as Bremer Avenue comes alive with cars of all styles and vintages.
Bremer County Fair
Nothing says “Iowa” like a great County Fair, and the Bremer County Fair draws thousands of visitors each year to celebrate all the best things about rural Iowa living. View More

Waverly Oktoberfest is a celebration of German culture held in late September or early October at Kohlmann Park each year. The family-friendly event is organized by a group of volunteers and supported by the businesses and individuals who enjoy a great fall celebration among friends. View More

Waverly is home to the largest horse sale in the nation each spring and fall. Visitors from around the world flock to Waverly to buy and sell horses and to reconnect with friends, many of which attend the sale each year. View More
Christmas Greetings on Main
Get in the holiday spirit with Waverly’s Christmas Greetings on Main. The event features live window scenes, horse-drawn carriage rides, an ice carver, and hot spots featuring Nestle hot chocolate and other special treats.
