Your home for information, recreation and community.
The Waverly Public Library is a place where people love to be. Spend time in a comfy chair as natural light floods in through magnificent windows. The high ceiling and clearstory above give a wonderful, open feeling to the space. Outside, you can walk through beautiful butterfly gardens, or sit and listen to the running stream while enjoying the surrounding scenery. You may see birds, butterflies, fish, and an occasional duck!
Staff has made being friendly and helpful a priority. They are always happy to help with book recommendations, research questions, local history, computers and the internet, and use of any of our online services.
Meeting rooms and study rooms are available for community use and can be reserved at no cost. These spaces are frequently used for birthdays, board games, interviews, test-taking, trainings and more. There is a comfortable space for teens as well, with café-style seating and tables in a space they can call their own. (It must be cool, because a lot of teens are here!)
When the local schools have early dismissals, Library staff offer a variety of programs to help kids keep busy in a positive way. There are rotating activities like Brick Builders, movies, craft events, STEM programs, and more. Computers and gaming consoles are always popular options as well.
Every week the Children’s Librarian prepares Story-Time programs for babies up to preschoolers at the Library, and they take this show on the road, visiting local daycare providers and preschools on a regular basis. Staff also plans a variety of fun events for children and families to experience together. They gear up for seasonal events such as the hugely popular Summer Reading Program, a very scary Halloween haunted house, Christmas music programs and much more. For adults they lead regular book clubs, trivia nights, craft nights, computer lessons, and gatherings for caregivers of young children.
People come to Waverly’s library for as many reasons as there are days in the year. Whether you want to stop in at the Library in the morning and enjoy coffee while reading the newspaper and preview the latest best seller, or whether you like to attend any of the popular events for families, children, teens, or adults, there is always something to inspire you at the Waverly Public Library.
