A Place for Everyone to Play
Waverly prides itself as being a community with fantastic outdoor spaces and stunning natural views. The city's park system within the community was thoughtfully designed to provide opportunities for everyone to enjoy time outdoors, no matter their age or ability.
If peaceful river views are what you're seeking, visits to Kohlmann, South Riverside, Three Rivers, Pelikan, or Brookwood Parks will not disappoint. Nestled along various bends of the Cedar River, each park offers its own unique and scenic perspective.
Looking to take a leisurely walk, jog or bike ride? Nearly every park in Waverly is connected through an extensive network of sidewalks and bike paths, making it easy to explore the community from one end of town to the other.
Families can enjoy playing together on modern, safe playground equipment throughout Waverly's neighborhoods. From Rolling Hills to First Home, Eastgate to Kohlmann, and at Cedar River Park, home to Waverly's inclusive playground, residents of all abilities can play, connect, and feel welcome. These neighborhood parks provide countless opportunities to bring people together and continue making Waverly a great place to live.
And Waverly knows that pets need a place to play, too! With that in mind, the City of Waverly Leisure Services department campaigned for and was awarded funds to develop a community Pet Safe Off Leash Dog Park. This 5-acre area is located on 8th Street SE, just South of the soccer complex. The park is a wonderful place for dogs of all sizes to stretch out and run. There are separately fenced large and small dog areas and paved walking paths throughout with covered seating areas along the path. A special dog park committee plans fun events and activities just for the dogs throughout the year. This is an amenity that is well loved by people and pets alike.

Kohlmann Park
Situated in the heart of Waverly along the banks of the Cedar River you will find one of our most scenic places to play; Kohlmann Park. It connects the bike trail north and the downtown loop. A unique feature of the park is the Amphitheater which hosts summer band concerts, weddings, and other events such as the annual Art Walk and Oktoberfest celebration.
