Your Place for Quality Athletic Facilities
Waverly is a community on the move. Our residents enjoy an active lifestyle and various community partners have come together to provide a wide array of athletic facilities for residents and visitors of all ages and abilities to enjoy.
Waverly is home to one of the finest youth soccer facilities in Northeast Iowa. The Waverly Soccer Complex hosts events for youth ages 5-18 and is operated and maintained by the Waverly Shell Rock Soccer Club. The Waverly and Shell Rock soccer programs have over 800 youth participating each year. The WSRSC hosts two of the largest soccer tournaments in the state each year in May for boys on one weekend and girls the following weekend.
In 2020 Waverly broke ground on a new complex for youth recreational baseball and softball. Located adjacent to the Soccer Complex, the youth ball diamond complex will feature 8 ball diamonds, including a Miracle Field.
The Waverly-Shell Rock School District takes great pride in providing quality athletic facilities for their student athletes. A state-of-the-art Performance Enhancement Center opened in 2019 providing a safe and supportive environment where students can train and condition. The High School and Middle School each have multiple gymnasiums for indoor sports and the High School football/track stadium boasts newly updated facilities for spectators. In a unique partnership, a number of Wartburg College’s athletic facilities are also utilized by Waverly-Shell Rock school district athletic programs.
Adults need a place to play, too. Waverly has a strong legacy of Rugby excellence and the City maintains a field for the club team’s use. Adult ball diamonds are located in Memorial Park and are widely utilized for league play. Wartburg College partners with the community to allow public use of their tennis courts when not in use by their athletic teams.
Youth Facilities
Waverly takes pride in providing quality facilities where youth can enjoy being active in a variety of athletic pursuits. The Waverly Soccer Complex is one of the finest in the state with 15 fields including a lighted premier field. Youth ball diamonds are provided at multiple locations and plans are underway to construct a consolidated youth ball diamond complex that will feature 8 ball diamonds including a Miracle Field. Youth can also enjoy the swimming pool, trails and parks throughout the community.W-SR School Facilities
The Waverly-Shell Rock School District provides outstanding facilities for their student athletes. A state-of-the art Performance Enhancement Center was constructed in 2019 and the football and track facilities were updated in the same year. Multiple basketball courts provide for ample practice and game opportunities at all grade levels. The W-SR softball and baseball varsity teams play games on the Wartburg fields and area high schools compete on the Wartburg cross country track.

Waverly supports adult athletics in the community by providing facilities where league teams can practice and compete. The Waverly Rugby Field is home to the local club team, the Bremer County Bucks. Adult ball diamonds are located in Memorial Park and Wartburg College allows public use of their tennis courts. Adults can also enjoy lap swim at the outdoor pool and golf at either of two 18-hole courses in town.

The “W” - Sports & Wellness Center
The Wartburg-Waverly Sports & Wellness Center, known as “The W”, is a joint venture between the City of Waverly and Wartburg College. Memberships to the “W” provide the Waverly community with access to the facility for a wide variety of activities.
